Workshop - Royal Marsden Teenage Cancer Unit – July 2017
Following on from my commission for the Royal Marsden Hospital, I attended and ran a small workshop with some on the in-patients of the Teenage Cancer Unit. It was a discussion based workshop, where we spoke of the impact of the arts (primarily visually) on the well-being and experience of those undergoing treatment.

COMMISSIONS & AWARDS

Securing and delivering private commissions since 2014

Winner – Auschwitz Memorial Submission – 2011
I collaborated with a peer artist, Amy Flanagan, and we made a large scale (6ftx5ft) mixed media depiction of the entrance to Auschwitz. We won a trip to the camp.

Commission – ‘Succession’ Mental Health Discussion Event – March 2014
‘Succession’ was a project aimed to aid students in accessing better mental health support in order to help them challenge and exceed expectations. I was asked to make a piece of art for their launch party. The piece was successful in provoking a discussion around ‘reaching out’, as this was inferred by the main imagery of the piece.

Commission - Royal Marsden Hospital October 2017
I put forward a proposal for a commission to fit the brief "Can visual arts make an impact on the anxiety of a patient waiting for radiotherapy?" I secured the commission and successfully installed a painting and supporting essay. The work is now part of the permanent Royal Marsden Art Collection.
